So I am going to the next part of the MP3 install which is to make the power for my MP3 player built into the car. If you were unaware I have a Zune that I am using for music. I got tired of taking it in the house to charge. Either I would forget it in the car, house or would have to leave my notebook on to charge it when i didnt need it...so I bought one of those adapters for your 12v port that makes it into 3 12v ports and a USB port which is perfect to power and charge the Zune if need be. This way when the car turns on the indash 12v(the one under the radio) turns on, which inturn turns the Zune on.

So I am going to build that little device into my center and that way it looks as to be built in. If I remember correctly (forgot to check) the 12v in the center does not turn off when the car is turned off. So I was thinking that I would either cut the 12v out of the dash and hok the wires into the 3 port. I was also thinking about leaving it there and just hook it into the back of it so both that and the 3 port would work in the center.

What do you think?

either way be careful about overloading the circuit and blowing the fuse.

I was thinking about that today...I wonder how hard it would be to set up a relay or something that when the 12v in the drash turned on it would turn on the power to the cig adapter and just run off my amps 4 cage power line?

I plan on that...jsut gotta put something together that will tak the power wire from the 4 gauge I have running to the rear, the ground and the ign turn on wire (technical term) from the stereo wireharness and when the keey is turned apply power.

either a power stud such as is used on boats or you could use a dist. box.

Just an update on this post...I went with the idea of putting a splitter on my current adapter. Then one of those ports went into my stock 12 v porn on the dash. The other post was used for a 3 way splitter/USB port that was glued into place where the ash tray was. Looks pretty neat...no stock but I don't always have to hide everything when I do a project. Sometimes I like it to stand out.
